Last night the UK clocks went forward an hour. This means BST is an hour ahead of GMT. Quite often at this time I forget!

It will take me a while to realise GMT is 1 hour different from BST. Already I have had to correct a posting on this blog!

British Summer Time (BST) starts tonight. This seems hard to believe after (what for us) has been a hardish winter. Some parts may even see snow over Easter. As far as I am concerned this news about BST is great. Evenings get 1 hour lighter and I do not care about the mornings.

We lose 1 hour of sleep tonight when the clocks go forward.

Well, if you are in the UK did you remember to put your clocks forward an hour?

BST means it is darker for longer in the morning, but it is lighter in the evenings. It also helps delineate winter from spring - lighter evenings bring a promise of better weather as we move on through spring.

If you are in the UK did you remember to switch to BST? We lose 1 hour but get this back in the autumn. At least we get lighter evenings.

UK clocks change tonight

The UK changes over to British Summer Time tonight, so we get a hour less in bed, but it is lighter in the evenings.

I change all clocks in the house except the one in the shack that stays on GMT.  For a few days, I tend to forget and enter my log an hour wrong!  Habit.  I always keep my log in GMT although in the UK it is no longer compulsory to keep a log. I still like to keep a paper log of the more important QSOs
